I was thinking today about what the people of my generation (tail-end of Boomers) has gone through. We’ve experienced some once-in-a-lifetime events: 9/11, the COVID-19 Pandemic. But then again, I would say that the Vietnam War was a pretty dramatic life-changing event. Then again was the Black Friday stock market crash. And the Great Recession in 2008 that resulted from the housing bubble. As I write this, the current President is using import tariffs to change economic behavior.
Are these ALL one-in-lifetime events? Or are we the victims of disaster hype? Does every generation has their own Cuba Missile Crisis or war in Afghanistan? Or maybe it’s just a bad luck streak that’s befallen us. It’s hard to know. I know that it feels like my generation has been chased by doom and gloom for some time now. Yet we soldier on. I have to wonder what it’s going to be like for the teenagers coming up now through the educational system. They’re already struggling with phone focus and social media in the hands of teens. And now AI is coming up on us fast. What the hell is happening?
